Who we are
Hindsite ("we", "us") is the data controller for the personal data described here. For any privacy request, contact us at privacy@hindsite.space.
What we collect
- Account data — your email address, and a securely hashed password if you set one. If you sign in with Google, we receive your email and basic profile from Google.
- Subscription & billing — plan and status. Card details are handled entirely by Stripe; we never see or store them.
- Usage— anonymous, de-duplicated page-view counts (to compile "most read"), and, for signed-in readers, your bookmarks and reading history so we can show them back to you.
- Technical — a strictly-necessary session cookie, and standard server logs (IP, user-agent) kept briefly for security and debugging.
How we use it
To provide the publication and your account; to process subscriptions; to send transactional email (sign-in, password resets, and — if you opt in — the newsletter); to understand aggregate readership; and to keep the service secure. We do not use your data for third-party advertising and we do not sell it.
Who processes it for us
We rely on a small set of processors, each under contract: Stripe (payments), Resend (transactional email), Vercel and Fly.io (hosting), and our database provider. Some may process data outside the UK/EEA under appropriate safeguards.
Retention
We keep account and subscription data for as long as your account is active and as required for tax and accounting. Server logs are short-lived. You can delete your account at any time.
Your rights
Under UK GDPR you can access, correct, delete, or port your data, object to or restrict processing, and withdraw consent. Email privacy@hindsite.spaceand we will respond within one month. You may also complain to the UK Information Commissioner's Office (ico.org.uk).
